WELCOME TO FOUNDATION
Welcome to Foundation at Menston Primary.
Our Foundation teachers are:
Acorn – Mrs Hardiman (Monday to Thursday), Mrs Adcock (Thursday pm and Friday)
Oak – Miss Lain
Our Teaching Assistants are: Mrs Stuttard, Mrs Gray and Mrs Jones
Daily – Children need to bring a named water bottle into school every day. Children are able to access outside learning every day so it is important that they always come to school with a hooded coat and have a pair of named wellies in school. During the summer children should also have a named sunhat.
Thursday – PE
Friday – Assembly
A Foundation newsletter is sent out via School Comms at the end of each week.
Reading: Please read with your child as often as possible and ideally at least three times a week. Their book will be changed when they can read it confidently and it has been read at home.
Big talk: Children are given a topic to discuss at home once a week and are expected to come to school with a sentence to share.
Maths: Practical maths activities are suggested to do at home that fit in with the current teaching, for example, hunting for numbers.
Please follow this link to access parent information about end of year non-negotiables for English and Mathematics. Any support that you can give to your child to achieve these targets will be extremely valuable.
These websites give children the opportunities to practise with an adult some of the skills we will learn.

Summer 2 2018
We are enjoying watching the plants we have been growing bloom. We have already harvested potatoes, strawberries and peas and there are carrots and tomatoes to come.
This half term we are learning about Traditional Tales. We have read an amazing book called ‘Little Red’ and are moving onto a book called ‘There is no dragon in this story’, in which a dragon takes central stage for a change.
We have enjoyed a World Cup football-themed day and cannot wait to show off our PE skills at Sports Day. Our on-site Traditional Tales Outdoor Day should be lots of fun and this term’s highlight may be our Cinderella’s Ball.
