Would you rather live in England or Africa?
Year 2 have been contemplating the above question carefully. We have been learning lots of exciting facts. Can you name the continents and oceans of the world?
To get a ‘feel’ for Africa, we had an African themed day. Children took part in a drumming workshop, made thumb pianos, African masks and necklaces and also animal prints.
World Book Day
MPS held World Book Day a couple of days early so managed to celebrate before the snow arrived! We began the day with a special assembly and enjoyed a themed PE session on Jack and the Beanstalk. Staff and pupils looked fantastic in their outfits. Which character did you come as?
We have been learning about David Hockney and have recreated some of his art work in class using pastels.
What a busy term we have had! Children are now very familiar with our Learning to Learn puppets: Ronnie Relationship, Resilient Reena, Rohan Ready, Reflective Rosie and Resourceful Ruby. Year 2 try very hard every day to follow The Golden Rules.
Some of the exciting topics we have covered include: Seasides, Dinosaurs, The 1953 Coronation and Habitats.
The First Christmas
Well done to KS1 for their excellent performance of ‘Superstar’. Y2 enjoyed a wonderful visit to St John’s Parish Church in Menston. We participated in the story of The First Christmas with Mr Proudlove and members of the church congregation.
