Menston Primary School

Making our world a better place

School Council

The School Council is a group of children democratically elected by their classmates to represent their views and to help the school to make good decisions and improve the school.

The School Council meets with Mrs Wilson and Mr Jones. They take class suggestions to the meetings, discuss them and collect class votes and ideas. The meetings are minuted and the School Councillors have opportunities to report back to their classes and develop ideas. We think our School Councillors help to make our school a better place.

Sometimes at special events the School Councillors represent our school for example at the Menston Armistice Memorial.

In line with the government directive, as of Monday 23rd March until further notice, Menston Primary School will be open as a childcare facility to our school’s key worker children and children that fall into the vulnerable category for those times when they cannot be safely cared for at home. Department for Education advice is that if it is at all possible for children to be at home then they should be. For any children registered for childcare, please report all absences to the school office before 9am. We have a 24 hour absence line 01943 873180 where you can leave a message to let us know what the reason for absence is. You must not send any children in if they are displaying the symptoms of Covid-19 which include a new, persistent cough and/ or a high temperature. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea they must be kept off school for 48 hours after the last bout of illness.
