Our Year 6 teachers are:
Birch Class – Miss Hodkinson
Rowan Class – Miss Dawson
Sycamore Class – Miss Walker
Our Teaching Assistants are: Mrs Palmer, Mrs Pheasey and Mrs Help
Daily – Children need to bring a named water bottle into school every day. Children are able to access outside learning regularly so it is important that they always come to school with a hooded coat. During the summer children should also have a named sunhat.
PE – Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure PE kits are clearly named.
Remote Learning in the Event of a Bubble Closure
In the event of a class/bubble closure, we will provide your child with a remote home learning package for the duration of the bubble closure. This will contain a mixture of online and offline activities. Details of this will be sent to you via Schoolcomms. A copy of it, along with the lesson materials your child needs, will be uploaded into Google Classroom for your child to access using their usual Google Classroom login details.
Birch Class have created some activities, written some beautiful notes and drawn some amazing pictures.
In Year 6, children will be expected to record homework and other information in their planners. Planners will be checked and signed on a Monday. Parents are expected to sign planners each weekend to show they have seen any information.
Reading: Please encourage your child to read a variety of texts. It is important that children are reading regularly to develop fluency as children are expected to read increasingly longer texts with greater speed. We expect Year 6 children to be reading at home every day, sometimes independently and sometime with an adult. Vocabulary is important so exploring the meaning of unfamiliar words is beneficial.
Spelling: Spelling is a high priority for Year 6 and will taught and practiced in class on a regular basis. Children will also receive regular spelling homework linked to our learning in class.

Here are just a few of the brilliant pictures of home learning we were sent this week:
We saw a film of this wonderfully designed boat remaining afloat despite many challenges.
What a great chair! We also saw evidence of someone sitting on it and...it stayed standing!
This frittata looks delicious.
We loved our video tour including goats, chickens and cute chicks too.
Part of an excellent hospital design.
We love this colourful microbe design!
What brilliant model microbes!
Part of a superb PowerPoint created about an interesting pioneer of nursing.
Miss Hodkinson is very impressed by these plants. There were lots more in the film, too!
We love this creative Wacky Races design.
We saw this balloon-driven supercar in action and it was amazing!
This is definitely a 5 star bug hotel. We're sure it will have lots of satisfied guests.
We received a lovely letter from a resident from the Beeches who completed a whole photocopied pack of the activities you made when we were still in school. We spoke to a member of staff who said many of the residents loved the activities, letters and art work we sent. We’re so proud of our wonderful Year 6 pupils who really are making our world a better place.
Some of you were keen to send your work to friends and relatives who may be isolating at this time. A selection of these are available further up this page in the home learning section. Sorry we couldn’t upload them all – it was an extremely big file!
